The title references the signature "boom-chicka-boom" rhythm made famous by Cash’s longtime backing band, the Tennessee Three, whose percussive sound defined many of his hits. Recorded at LSI Studios in Nashville, the album features production from Bob Moore, a respected bassist and former collaborator, ensuring an authentic, roots-driven approach. Cash revisits some of his earlier work here, notably re-recording "Cat’s in the Cradle" and a version of "Hidden Shame" penned by Elvis Costello. The record also has "A Backstage Pass," reflecting Cash’s enduring connection to country storytelling. Noteworthy is Johnny's mother, Mrs Carrie Cash’s guest vocal on "Family Bible," adding warmth and depth.
