Beautiful Re-Issue. Vinyl Appears Glossy, Unplayed. “Back In The Pre-CD Early '80s, When Louis Jordan Records Were Difficult To Come By In The States (Unless You Didn't Mind MCA's Fake Stereo Hits Collections), Import Labels Like Sweden's Jukebox Lil Took It Upon Themselves To Recirculate His Marvelous Deccas In Pristine Mono. So Went Cole Slaw, Which Loosely Chronicles Jordan From His Heyday Just Before The 1948 Recording Ban All The Way To 1952, About A Year And A Half Before The End Of His Decca Contract. Though Several Of These Records Failed To Chart Nationally, They Show No Dropoff In Inspiration; Jordan Remains As Ever The Bemused Observer And Sage Of The Black Community. Among The Lesser-Known Humorous Gems Are "Don't Burn The Candle At Both Ends" (Which In Passing Warns About The Dangers Of Smoking Two Decades Before The Surgeon General's Report), The Great Bebop Parody In Calypso "Push Ka Pee Shee Pie" (The Surprise Pre-Intermission Hit Of Broadway's Five Guys Named Moe), And His Cheeky 1952 Challenge To The Democrats And GOP, "Jordan For President." Amidst The Novelties And Calypsos, There Is Also A Hint Of The Sophisticate Behind The Mask In His Nicely Melancholy "Azure-Té." A Prize Target, Then, For LP Hunters.” – Richard S. Ginell, AMG
