Expect No Mercy
Sealed 1977 original. Thin saw cut. "Expect No Mercy" is the ninth studio album released by Scottish hard rock band Nazareth in 1977. The album was produced by Manny Charlton and became one of the band's most successful albums, reaching number 15 on the UK album charts and number 28 on the US Billboard 200.

One of the most interesting facts about the album is that it features a cover version of the Joni Mitchell song "This Flight Tonight," which became one of Nazareth's most popular songs. The band's version of the song features a heavy guitar riff and powerful vocals from lead singer Dan McCafferty, giving the song a much harder edge than Mitchell's original version.

Another interesting fact about "Expect No Mercy" is that it features a number of songs that were co-written by Manny Charlton and Billy Rankin, who played guitar on the album. The album's title track, "Expect No Mercy," is one of these songs and features a catchy guitar riff and an anthemic chorus that became a fan favorite.

In addition to its hard rock sound, "Expect No Mercy" also features some diverse musical influences, including country music on the track "Gone Dead Train" and reggae on the song "Loved and Lost." This eclectic mix of genres helped to set the album apart from other hard rock releases of the time and cemented Nazareth's reputation as a band with a unique sound.
