Soft Cell
Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret
Rare & Collectible Vinyl Records

1981 original with inner sleeve. Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret turned Soft Cell’s minimal electronic setup into something simultaneously seedy, theatrical, and enormously catchy. Marc Almond’s dramatic vocals and Dave Ball’s synthesizers gave the album a personality far removed from slicker early-’80s synth-pop, with “Tainted Love,” “Bedsitter,” and “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye” moving between dance-floor immediacy and decidedly darker subject matter. “Tainted Love” became an international phenomenon, but the album’s lasting appeal comes from how convincingly Soft Cell built an entire nocturnal world around it.
