Animal Logic
1989 Original in shrink with hype sticker & inner sleeve. Animal Logic's self-titled debut album, released in 1989, marked the formation of a distinctive supergroup comprised of Stewart Copeland, the drummer from The Police, bass player Stanley Clarke, jazz guitarist Michael Thompson, and accomplished singer-songwriter Deborah Holland. The project emerged after Copeland’s post-Police explorations and was notable for uniting musicians from varied backgrounds, blending pop-rock with elements of jazz and sophisticated songwriting. The band recorded the album in Los Angeles. Animal Logic's unique makeup attracted attention for merging Copeland’s rhythmic inventiveness with Holland’s introspective lyrics and Clarke's Jazzy bass work. Animal Logic stood apart in the late 1980s music landscape, which was dominated by synth-pop and burgeoning alternative rock. The album delivered singles like "There's a Spy (In the House of Love)" that showcased their ability to craft accessible songs with intricate musicianship. Despite its relatively brief time in the spotlight, Animal Logic remains a noteworthy collaboration that highlighted the continued creative ambitions of its members and contributed a sophisticated, genre-blending record to the era's pop-rock canon.
