Art Of Tea
1975 Original. Features "Monkey See, Monkey Do," "Eggplant," "Nightmoves" & More. Michael Franks’ "The Art of Tea," released in 1976, is widely regarded as a landmark in the jazz-pop genre. This album marked Franks’ first collaboration with the major label Reprise Records and featured an impressive roster of jazz musicians, including Joe Sample, Larry Carlton, Wilton Felder, and John Guerin. Produced by Tommy LiPuma, "The Art of Tea" presented a sophisticated blend of smooth jazz arrangements and witty, literate lyrics, establishing Franks’ signature style. The record’s lead single, "Popsicle Toes," became a minor hit and remains one of his best-known songs to this day, helping to introduce a wider audience to his understated, conversational vocal delivery and clever wordplay.
