This San Francisco-based new wave/post-punk group, fronted by Debora Iyall, had gained underground acclaim with their previous records and the hit single "Never Say Never." For *Instincts*, the band worked with producer David Kahne and recorded at the renowned Record Plant studio. The album is highlighted by its most commercially successful single, "A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)," which became Romeo Void’s only Top 40 hit, further boosting their visibility on MTV and mainstream radio.
