Falzone, Sam

A Family Sweet
Sealed, Rare 1988 Private Press Original. “Sam Falzone Will Always Be Best-Known As The Tenor Saxophone Soloist With Don Ellis' Orchestra In The Late '60s/Early '70s. After Leaving Ellis, In 1978 He Returned To His Native Buffalo Where He Worked Locally With His Buffalo Jazz Workshop. In 1988 He Finally Made His Recording Debut As A Leader, Performing With His Nonet; The Only Sideman To Gain Some Later Recognition Is Trumpeter Jeff Jarvis. Falzone Performs Seven Originals, Which Are Dedicated To Family Members. The Music Is Post-Bop Jazz, Not Shy To Show Some Ties To Fusion, And Usually Swings. Along With Falzone And Jarvis, The Key Soloists Include Keyboardist Michael Royal, Trombonist Phil Sims, And Altoist Carol Mclaughlin.” – Scott Yanow, AMG
