1983 Japanese Stereo Pressing Without Obi. "A Fickle Sonance" is a jazz album released by American saxophonist Jackie McLean in 1961. It was recorded in Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and released by Blue Note Records.

McLean had a long and prolific career in jazz, beginning in the 1950s as a sideman with artists like Miles Davis and Charles Mingus. He became a bandleader in his own right, and released numerous albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

"A Fickle Sonance" features McLean on alto saxophone, with a lineup of musicians that includes trumpeter Tommy Turrentine, pianist Sonny Clark, bassist Butch Warren, and drummer Billy Higgins.

The album was well-received by critics and is considered a classic of the hard bop era. It has been reissued numerous times over the years and remains a popular and influential recording in the jazz canon.
