Elsie Bianchi Trio

At Chateau Fleur De Lies
Sealed 2017 Mono Original At Chateau Fleur De Lies And Previously Unreleased. At Chateau Fleur De Lis Offers Up Recently Unearthed Tapes From The Estate Of Elsie Bianchi, Recorded In 1968 At The Chateau Fleur De Lis In Atlanta, Georgia. This Recording May Be The Final And Last Issued Music Of Elsie Bianchi. It's Significant For Two Reasons: It Showcases A Repertoire Of Her Swiss Trio That Was Never Recorded Before ("Now's The Time," "Pennies From Heaven," "Alice In Wonderland," "Swingin' Shepherd Blues" And Even A French Sung Version Of "Take Five") And Also Finds Elsie And Siro Bianchi Performing On Instruments They Otherwise Never Recorded With (Hammond Organ, Tenor Saxophone And Flute). Elsie Absolutely Swings Through These Tunes! The First Track "Now's The Time," A Bebop Classic By Charlie Parker, Features Elsie On Hammond Organ And Siro On Flute. They Can Be Heard Again On Organ And Flute On Brubeck's "Take Five" And The Relaxed Latin Number "Canalla" As Well As "Swingin' Shepherd Blues." Siro Switches To Tenor Saxophone For "Pennies From Heaven" And "Things Ain't What They Used To Be," The Latter A Swinging Composition By Mercer Ellington With Siro Playing A Tasteful, Uncluttered Solo. The Same Composition Is Reprised As The Last Track In A Much Faster Tempo, Over Which Elsie Announces The Band.
