Guido Manusardi
Manusardi was born in Milan, Italy in 1935 and began playing piano at a young age. He studied classical music but was drawn to jazz and began playing professionally in the 1950s. He played with several notable Italian jazz musicians, including Enrico Intra and Gianni Basso, before forming his own trio in the 1960s.
"Avangarda" was recorded during a period of experimentation and innovation in jazz, as musicians pushed boundaries and incorporated new elements into the genre. Manusardi's compositions on the album reflect this spirit of exploration, with unconventional time signatures, complex rhythms, and extended improvisations.
The album received critical acclaim upon its release and helped establish Manusardi as a leading figure in Italian jazz. He continued to perform and record throughout his career, collaborating with musicians such as Chet Baker and Johnny Griffin. Manusardi died in 2007 at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy as one of Italy's most respected jazz pianists.
