Allman Brothers Band

Brothers And Sisters
1977 pressing in gatefold. EX/NM- copy. The Allman Brothers Band released their album "Brothers and Sisters" in August 1973. The album was the band's first without their founder and leader Duane Allman, who had died in a motorcycle accident in 1971, as well as bassist Berry Oakley, who passed away in a similar accident the following year. The album featured new members Chuck Leavell on piano and Lamar Williams on bass.

The recording process for "Brothers and Sisters" was turbulent, with the band members struggling to cope with the loss of Duane and Berry. However, they eventually managed to pull together and create an album that became one of their most successful.

The album features some of the band's most iconic songs, including "Ramblin' Man," which became their first top 10 hit, and "Jessica," which has since become a classic rock staple. The album also features the track "Southbound," which was co-written by the band's drummer Jaimoe and guitarist Dickey Betts.

Despite the success of the album, tensions within the band continued to grow, and they eventually disbanded in 1976. However, "Brothers and Sisters" remains a landmark album in the history of Southern rock and the Allman Brothers Band's legacy.
