Sealed 2022 180gm Remastered Reissue From Music On Vinyl. "East Bay Grease" Is The Debut Album Of The American Funk And Soul Band Tower Of Power. The Album Was Released In 1970 By San Francisco Records And Was Recorded At Pacific Recording Studios In San Mateo, California.

The Band Was Formed In Oakland, California In 1968 By Saxophonist Emilio Castillo And Baritone Saxophonist Stephen "Doc" Kupka. They Started As A Backup Band For A Variety Of Soul And R&b Artists, But Eventually Formed Their Own Group And Began Developing Their Own Sound.

"East Bay Grease" Showcases The Band's Signature Sound, Which Blends Soul, Funk, And Jazz With A Horn-heavy Sound. The Album's Title Is A Nod To The Band's Roots In The East Bay Area Of California, Which Includes Oakland, Berkeley, And Other Nearby Cities.

The Album Features Several Original Compositions, Including "Knock Yourself Out" & "Sparkling In The Sand".

"East Bay Grease" Was A Critical Success And Helped Establish Tower Of Power As One Of The Leading Funk And Soul Bands Of The 1970s. The Album's Success Led To A Recording Contract With Warner Bros. Records, And The Band Went On To Release Several More Successful Albums Throughout The Decade.
