Fables Of The Reconstruction / Reconstruction Of The Fables
1985 Tan Label Original In A Texture Cover With Inner Sleeve. "Fables of the Reconstruction" is the third studio album by American rock band R.E.M. It was released on June 10, 1985, through I.R.S. Records. The album was recorded in London, England, and produced by Joe Boyd, who had previously collaborated with artists such as Nick Drake and Fairport Convention.

The album marked a departure from R.E.M.'s previous jangly, guitar-driven sound, with a heavier emphasis on folk and country influences. The lyrics were also more cryptic and surreal, with themes that explored the band's fascination with Southern Gothic literature.

The album received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising its experimentation and others criticizing its lack of focus. Nevertheless, it has since become a cult favorite among R.E.M. fans and is considered a key record in the band's discography.

In 2020, R.E.M. released a deluxe edition of "Fables of the Reconstruction" to celebrate the album's 35th anniversary. The reissue included a remastered version of the original album, as well as previously unreleased demos and live recordings.
