1994 180gm Clarity Vinyl. The album "Gounod Faust Ballet Music / Bizet Carmen Suite" by the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House was first released in 1960. The album features orchestral suites from two popular French operas, Charles Gounod's "Faust" and Georges Bizet's "Carmen", arranged specifically for ballet performances.

The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, is one of the world's most renowned orchestras, formed in 1946. The orchestra regularly performs at the Royal Opera House in London and has collaborated with some of the most prominent conductors and soloists in the classical music world.

The music featured on the album has a rich history, with both "Faust" and "Carmen" being widely popular and influential works. "Faust" premiered in 1859 in Paris, with the ballet music added later for a production in 1869. The opera tells the story of an aging philosopher who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for youth and love. The ballet music featured on the album includes selections from the opera's Act III, including the famous "Jewel Song".

"Carmen" premiered in 1875 in Paris and became an instant sensation. The opera tells the story of a passionate and free-spirited woman, Carmen, and her doomed romance with a soldier, Don José. The suite included on the album features some of the most famous and recognizable music from the opera, including the fiery "Habanera" and the rousing "Toreador Song".
