Perkins, Bill

Many Ways To Go
Sealed 1980 Original Recorded At 30ips! Small Cut Corner. Features Clare Fischer. “Bill Perkins Had One Of His Infrequent Opportunities To Lead A Record Date In 1980. Perkins, A Respected Engineer, Invented A Sax/Flute Synthesizer Interface That He And Fellow Reed Player Gordon Goodwin Use On Some Numbers To Create Denser Ensembles. The Musicians Also Include Organist Clare Fischer, Bassist Bob Magnusson And Drummer Vince Lateano, And Essentially Play Straight-Ahead Solos On Two Originals Apiece By Fischer And Goodwin, Plus A Pair By Billy Strayhorn ("Chelsea Bridge" And "Johnny Come Lately"). An Interesting Set That Finds Perkins' Sound Fairly Influenced By John Coltrane; This LP Has Not Yet Been Reissued On CD.” Scott Yanow, AMG.
