1969 Stereo, Blue Label Pressing In Gatefold. "Mothermania (The Best Of The Mothers)" is a compilation album by the American rock band the Mothers of Invention, also known simply as the "Mothers." The album was released in 1969, shortly after the band had undergone a significant lineup change. The Mothers of Invention was formed in 1964 by Frank Zappa and various other musicians. They were known for their experimental and satirical music, which incorporated elements of rock, jazz, and classical music. The band gained a following for their live performances, which often involved elaborate costumes, props, and theatrics. In 1969, the original lineup of the Mothers of Invention disbanded, and Frank Zappa formed a new version of the band with a new set of musicians. "Mothermania (The Best Of The Mothers)" was released around the same time as this lineup change, and it features tracks from the band's first four albums, which were released between 1966 and 1968.
