Paternoster
New 2016 LE #0234/1000 in gatefold with Obi. The self-titled album "Paternoster" was released in 1972 and is considered one of the rarest and most sought-after recordings in European progressive rock. The band, led by organist and vocalist Franz Wippel, created a sound marked by somber, organ-driven melodies, jazz-inspired improvisation, and introspective lyrics delivered in English. At the time of its release, the album had limited distribution through the Viennese label CBS Austria, resulting in a very small initial pressing. This scarcity contributed to the album’s legendary status among collectors and aficionados of early-1970s underground rock.

From a musical perspective, "Paternoster" stands out for its fusion of psychedelic rock, classical influences, and jazz elements, reflecting the experimental spirit of continental prog rock during the era. The album’s tone is often described as melancholic and reflective, with themes touching on existential struggle and spiritual searching. Over the decades, "Paternoster" has been rediscovered and reissued by various labels, gaining recognition for its unique blend of styles and its role in the development of progressive and psychedelic music in Austria. Today, it is seen as a significant, if obscure, artifact that captures both the innovation and challenges of non-English-speaking progressive rock bands in the early 1970s. with
