Atkins was a highly respected and influential guitarist, known for his unique fingerpicking style and innovative use of studio techniques. He began his career as a session musician in Nashville in the 1940s, playing on recordings by artists such as Hank Williams and Elvis Presley. In the 1950s and 1960s, Atkins released a series of popular instrumental albums that helped to popularize the guitar as a solo instrument.
