Fountain, Pete

Plenty Of Pete
Sealed 1962 Mono Original. “Coral Certainly Offered Dixieland Fans Plenty Of Pete Fountain In The Early '60s For He Recorded At Least 16 Albums For The Label During 1959-63. Fortunately This Was The Clarinetist's Prime Period (Although He Always Sounds Good) But Unfortunately None Of The Recordings Have Been Reissued On CD Yet. For Plenty Of Pete, Fountain Is Heard Showcased With An Orchestra On Five Of The Eight Numbers (Including An Attempt To Capitalize On The Success Of "Stranger On The Shore") And Jams With His Rhythm Section On The Remaining Pieces Plus A Lengthy And Rather Odd Medley. The Latter Somehow Combines Together "Stardust," "Is It True What They Say About Dixie?," "The Saints" And "Dixie," Shifting Back And Forth Between Those Unrelated Songs. As With Most Of His Output For Coral, This Pete Fountain LP Is Worth Picking Up If One Is Lucky Enough To Run Across It.” – Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
