Bartok / Debussy / Mozart / Martha Argerich / Stephen Bishop Kovacevich

Sonata For Two Pianos And Percussion / Andante / En Blanc Et Noir
Rare 1977 Laminated Cover Original. Saw Cut. LP Appears New, Unplayed. Martha Argerich And Stephen Bishop Kovacevich, Pianos; Willy Goudswaard And Michael De Roo, Percussion. One Of Arthur Salvatore's Supreme LP Recordings. Wrote The Eminent Critic Robert Layton In His Review For The August 1978 Issue Of The Gramophone: A Remarkable And Outstanding Performance Of Both The Bartok And Debussy Works. These Readings Are As Strongly Characterized As Any I Have Ever Heard Either On Records Or In The Concert Hall. The Bartok Sonata Has Superb Dramatic Projection. The Performance Grips You Right From The Very Beginning, Which Is Rapt, Intent, Brooding And With An Astonishingly Well Projected Sense Of Atmosphere. There Is No Questioning The Range Of Keyboard Colour That These Artists Command. When The Allegro Mollo Bursts On To The Scene, They Are Enormously Spirited, Yet Their Wild Abandon Never Gets Out Of Control. A Concentrated Atmosphere And A Delight On Sheer Pianism That Disarms Criticism. Willy Goudswaard And Michel De Roo Are No Less Sensitive Than The Two Pianists. I Can Only Report That I Was Held Spellbound From Beginning To End.
