The Histoire Du Soldat Suite is a suite of music from Stravinsky's ballet "The Soldier's Tale", which he composed in 1918. The ballet tells the story of a soldier who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for a magical book that can predict the future. The suite includes seven movements and features a small ensemble of instruments, including a clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, violin, and double bass.
The album "Stravinsky Conducts Histoire Du Soldat Suite / Pulcinella Suite" was well received by both critics and audiences and is considered an important recording in the history of classical music. It has been reissued several times in various formats and remains a popular recording of Stravinsky's music to this day.
