"1984 (For the Love of Big Brother)" is the soundtrack album by the British duo Eurythmics, created for Michael Radford’s film adaptation of George Orwell’s dystopian novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four." At the time, Eurythmics—Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart—had already achieved major success with their synth-pop sound and were approached to provide music that would complement the film’s bleak, futuristic atmosphere. The project was controversial, as director Radford originally intended to use only an orchestral score by Dominic Muldowney, but the film’s producers commissioned Eurythmics for a contemporary electronic accompaniment, resulting in the coexistence, and at times, competition, between the two soundtracks.

Musically, the album features a dark, experimental synth-driven style that mirrors the oppressive tone of Orwell's narrative, with tracks such as "Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty-Four)" becoming notable for both its chart success and its provocative subject matter. Unlike previous Eurythmics releases, "1984 (For the Love of Big Brother)" is almost entirely instrumental, with only a few vocal tracks, emphasizing atmosphere over pop song structure.
