Sealed, Latest Gatefold Reissue. Speak & Spell Is The Debut Album By English Electronic Band Depeche Mode, Released On 5 October 1981 By Mute Records. The Album Marked The Band's Introduction Into The Electronic Music Scene And The Beginning Of Their Successful Career.

The Band Was Formed In Basildon, Essex In 1980 By Vince Clarke, Martin Gore, Andrew Fletcher, And David Gahan. Clarke Was The Main Songwriter And Instrumentalist Of The Band While Gore Contributed As A Songwriter And Occasional Vocalist. The Band's Name, Depeche Mode, Was Taken From A French Fashion Magazine.

The Recording Of Speak & Spell Began In March 1981 And Was Completed In July Of The Same Year. The Album Was Produced By Daniel Miller, Founder Of Mute Records, And Recorded In Blackwing Studios In London.

Speak & Spell Features Ten Tracks, Including The Singles "New Life," "Just Can't Get Enough," And "Dreaming Of Me." The Album Was A Commercial Success In The Uk And Reached The Top 10 In Several European Countries.

After The Release Of The Album, Vince Clarke Left The Band To Form Yazoo With Alison Moyet. He Was Replaced By Alan Wilder, Who Would Become An Integral Member Of The Band For The Next 13 Years.

Speak & Spell Remains An Important Album In The History Of Electronic Music And Is Considered A Classic Of The Genre.
