Prince

Black Album
Unreleased 1987 Original US Pressing Of Prince's Infamous Black Album. This Is The Holy Grail For Prince Collectors. Prince Decided The Material Was Too Dark And Violent And Pulled The Album A Week Before The Release Date, After Copies Had Been Pressed. Some European LPs Have Been Circulated, But In The US Warner Bros. Went On Lockdown And Only A Handful Of Copies Escaped Being Destroyed. At One Time, The Estimate Was Six Copies Survived. Former Band Member Alan Leeds Says The Number Was Higher, But Still Less Than 100 Copies Were In Circulation. These Would Be Copies Prince Gave To Band Members And Staff And Perhaps A Handful Through Warner That Escaped Destruction. The Rarity Has Placed This Pressing On Goldmine's List Of Most Valuable Records. This Copy Is Distinguishable From The Many Bootlegs By The Label Design And The Matrix (1-25677-A-SH 1). The Vinyl Itself Is A Bit Cloudy And Has Some Superficial Lines But Plays Nicely. This Particular Copy Was Given To A Record Store Employee In Albuquerque By The Local Warner Rep Before The Release Date Without The Cover Or Inner Sleeve. It Is Housed In A Generic Cover.
